Find Your Voice. Make It Heard.
We are passionate about empowerment of individuals. Regardless of your race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, age or ability - we believe that you are important and your voice is too. This is why we are starting the 'Find Your Voice Campaign', where we are supporting people from our communities to speak up and speak out.
What can stop somebody from speaking up?
A lot of things can stop somebody from speaking up and speaking out. Mental Health struggles such as depression and anxiety can cause people to believe they don't have a voice, and even if they do - their voice wouldn't count as nobody wants to hear what they've got to say. People in marginalised groups in our societies still face horrendous abuse from individuals who will continue to put them down. Women who dare to speak up and be counted are still met with misogyny, sexual harassment and abuse. People of colour are still subjected to racism. Young people are still constantly put down and ignored due to 'inexperience' and 'lack of life knowledge'. There are many more reasons and these are just some of the reasons why people will not speak up and speak out. Why some people still believe they are not important.
Some people also struggle with their platform. Despite it never being so easy to create a platform for your voice - it's also never been harder to make your stamp on the world as there are so, so many people out there already making names for themselves and the over-saturation of content gets in the way of people putting themselves out there.
How will we challenge this?
Empowerment. We will be empowering local, passionate people who often feel they are misrepresented or denied their voice. We will do this by working closely with these groups and encouraging them to find their voice and make it heard. We will also be using our own platform to provide these groups and individuals with a platform.
Find Your Voice
As previously mentioned, there are many individuals who struggle to find their voice and don't believe they have one. A voice is something we all have a right to, as well as the opportunity to speak and be heard. Through conversations, support and empowerment, we will be encouraging these groups and individuals to speak about what's important to them and realise that they do have a voice, they are important and they have the opportunity to speak.
Make It Heard
Whether it be song-writing/performing, Podcasting, Poetry or Spoken Word, the usage of our facilities will be made readily available to those who seek to use their voice and make the world a better place by speaking up for what they believe in, against injustices and promoting social justice across their area, industry, city, country or world.
This project will initially run from 1st September to 31st December. Groups who are striving to support the empowerment of individuals and seek to help those who feel they don't have a voice, find their voice will be able to join and receive support. They must have access to internet and be available for online sessions (due to Covid-19). A willingness to participate and join in the work and create a piece of work which can be shared publicly is needed. We only have capacity to work with 3/4 groups initially, so we will decide on a case-by-case basis.
